Chef de Partie

Location: Pugh’s Garden Village, Wenvoe
Salary: £13.53 per hour Annual Salary £26,383.50pa
Hours: 37.5 hours per week – Between 08.30am – 17.30pm Occasional late nights through Peak season trading.

Position: Permanent.

Shift Pattern: Rolling week Monday – Sunday

 

Pugh’s Garden Village in Wenvoe is looking for a passionate and driven Chef de Partie to join our busy kitchen team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced chef to take responsibility for managing one or more sections of the kitchen while delivering high‑quality food in a fast‑paced, customer‑focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

Cooking & Preparation

  • Prepare, cook, and present dishes within your designated section to a high standard
  • Ensure consistency and excellence in food quality and presentation

Quality Control

  • Maintain the restaurant’s food standards at all times
  • Ensure dishes are presented in line with specifications

Station Management

  • Take ownership of your section, including mise en place, stock levels, and time management
  • Support smooth daily kitchen operations during service

Training & Supervision

  • Mentor and support Commis Chefs and Kitchen Assistants
  • Ensure all team members follow hygiene, safety, and food standards

Hygiene & Cleanliness

  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment
  • Adhere to all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations

Collaboration

  • Work closely with other kitchen sections to deliver efficient service, especially during busy periods

Stock Control

  • Assist with ordering, stock rotation, and storage
  • Ensure ingredients are kept in optimal condition

Communication

  • Report equipment issues, stock concerns, or operational challenges to the Sous Chef or Head Chef promptly

About You

Experience

  • Previous experience as a Commis Chef or similar role within a high‑volume kitchen

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong culinary skills and knowledge of cooking techniques
  • Excellent time management and ability to work under pressure
  • Leadership qualities with the confidence to train junior staff
  • Strong communication skills and a team‑focused approach
  • High attention to detail in food preparation and presentation

Health & Safety

  • Good understanding of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen cleanliness standards

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work long hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Comfortable working in a hot, fast‑paced kitchen environment

Education & Training

  • A culinary qualification is desirable but not essential
  • Relevant industry experience and on‑the‑job training are fully acceptable
