Job Title: Chef de Partie
Location: Pugh's Garden Centre, Wenvoe, Vale Of Glamorgan, CF5 6AD
Hours: 37.5 hours
Salary: between £24,862 - £26,032 pa depending on experience
Hours of work: between 08:00am – 17:00pm, weekend work as per rota
Reports to: Kitchen Manager / Sous Chef
Job Summary:
The Chef de Partie will be responsible for managing and running one or more sections of the kitchen. This includes preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes in accordance with the restaurant’s standards. The Chef de Partie must ensure high-quality food production and help maintain a clean, efficient, and well-organised kitchen.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cooking & Preparation: Prepare, cook, and present dishes for your designated section of the kitchen
- Quality Control: Ensure that all dishes meet the required quality standards and are presented to the restaurant’s specifications.
- Station Management: Manage the daily operations of your designated station, including inventory control, ingredient preparation, and time management.
- Training & Supervision: Mentor and train junior chefs and kitchen assistants, ensuring they adhere to hygiene and safety standards.
- Hygiene & Cleanliness: Maintain cleanliness and organisation within your section of the kitchen, ensuring all food safety and hygiene standards are met.
- Collaboration: Work with other sections of the kitchen to ensure smooth and efficient service, especially during busy periods.
- Stock Control: Assist with stock ordering, stock rotation, and ensuring ingredients are kept in optimal condition.
- Communication: Report any issues related to kitchen equipment, ingredients, or other concerns to the Sous Chef or Head Chef promptly.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience as a Commis Chef or in a similar role within a high-volume kitchen.
- Culinary Skills: Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, ingredient preparation, and presentation.
- Time Management: Ability to work efficiently under pressure, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Leadership: Ability to supervise and train junior kitchen staff.
- Team Player: Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.
- Attention to Detail: Ensure that all food is prepared and presented to a high standard.
- Health & Safety Knowledge: Understanding of food safety regulations and kitchen cleanliness.
Physical Requirements:
- Stamina to work long hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to work in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment.
Education & Training:
- A culinary arts degree or relevant certification is preferred but not always required.
- On-the-job training or previous experience is typically sufficient.
