Goods-In & Logistics Team Leader, Permanent Contract (Caerphilly)

Salary: £26,325.00 Per Annum £13.50per hr
Hours: 37.5 per week permanent
Pugh’s Nursery Caerphilly is looking for a proactive, hands-on, and reliable Goods-In & Logistics Team Leader to support our busy horticultural and retail operation. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a varied, fast-paced environment supporting Wales’s best-loved garden centres and nursery.

What You’ll Be Doing
As a key member of our logistics team, you will play a central role in ensuring the smooth flow of stock across the business and delivery our products to our customers. Your main responsibilities will include:
Stock Handling & Quality Checks
- Receiving and processing deliveries including plants, compost, tools, pots, garden furniture, and seasonal merchandise.
- Checking deliveries against paperwork for accuracy, reporting shortages, damages, or discrepancies.
- All deliveries and met within the company’s delivery policy
- Organising and managing the teams Rotas, Holidays and Delivery Routes
- Recording stock accurately using our inventory management system.
Warehouse, Yard & Shop Floor Support
- Organising goods for storage or presentation on the shop floor in line with company standards.
- Assisting with stock replenishment and internal stock movements
- Supporting safe unloading and handling of items using appropriate equipment, including forklifts, pallet trucks, and trolleys
- Collaborating with goods-in teams across other Pugh’s sites to support replenishment of merchandise, stock transfers and customer deliveries
Safety & Site Maintenance
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organised goods-in, warehouse, and yard area
- Managing recycling and waste according to environmental procedures
- Carrying out routine health & safety checks and reporting any hazards
- Ensuring safe handling of chemicals, large items, and live plants in line with company policies
What We’re Looking For
Essential qualities:
- The ability to lead and manage the team to ensure all job aspects of the role are completed
- A positive, reliable team player with a proactive attitude
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when checking and recording stock
- Confident IT user with experience in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and stock systems (training provided)
- Physically capable of lifting and moving heavy or bulky items
- Comfortable working outdoors year-round
Desirable:
- Experience in logistics, warehousing, retail stock handling, or garden centre environments
- Forklift or pallet truck experience (training and certification can be provided for the right candidate)
